more zoo fun

the alaska zoo is so much fun. jack loves to run along the wide gravel pathways and over the wooden bridges, spotting the animals along the way. he really likes the sheep, the tiny porcupine and the two polar bears. we can never walk fast enough, see the animals quick enough and then of course, we leave way too fast...

comparison

this happens on a daily basis. of course. usually what dilly's actions are now compared to where jack was. but as far as the pictures, well, they are almost one in the same...

i just can't believe how similar they are!

flanagan family

my great aunt joan came to visit ak. she stayed for 10 days with my uncle bob and aunt sarah in anchorage. they traveled down the peninsula and up to see us as well. we captured a few fun moments with dylan and the rest of the flanagan's.

beloved thumbs

i'll admit it. i sucked my thumb. likely past the point of it being acceptable, but i loved loved loved it. my father used to ask me what flavor is that one? chocolate? and likely if you ask an ex-thumb sucker, he or she will have had their favorite, preferred thumb. for the record, mine was the right thumb. and no, it didn't taste like chocolate. it tasted like comfort.

so i guess it's only natural that one of my babies would pick up the habit: dylan.

the thumb sucking comes as a relief to me because this little girl has been known to nurse in the evenings for up to two hours. and obviously, only the first 15 minutes or so she's actually eating, the rest of the time she is pacifying herself. i can try to pull her off, but then she wakes to rapidly start "eating" again. but now that she's found her thumb - wow, i never knew something could make her so happy, content and fall asleep within seconds.

who wants a popsicle???

we have to make the most of our sunny days, as there haven't been quite as many as last year. and what better way to cool off on a sunny day than with a cool treat...

i love following jack around the yard with my camera. it reminds me that yes, it is the little things in life that are great. jack is forever pointing out the teeniest of bugs, a fun shaped rock or picking a flower for me.

another evening hike
