halloween.

it snowed this morning.  all morning and into the afternoon.  i used to get irritated with snow.  like, how dare you snow on our perfectly smooth, black streets.  i have to be to work in 30 minutes!  how dare you!  but now, now that i don't really have to go anywhere if i don't wanna, i like it.  i like it from our warm house.  i'm lined up with my kids, nose smashed against the windows, staring at its beauty.  i like quarter-size flakes the best, and i like it even more when jackie tries to catch 'em in his mouf, barefoot on our deck.

{you like the pumpkins?  i google searched images of jack-o-laterns, and these were my favorite of the faces.  i free-handed them with a red sharpie, cut 'em out and nail polished the left over lines.  voila!  i carved the left and the middle ones, dada carved the right one.  jack told me it was ewwwww and dylan was busy with her dollies.  maybe next year...}

another tasty somethin we like to put in our mouths... cookies.  with the business going on out there, i felt like there should be an oven on in here.  right?  and in keeping with our flintstone/rubble theme, we made dinosaur lemon sugar cookies.  jackie's all about the ingredients, the pouring and the mixing, (and tasting) but i always lose him between the baking time and the frosting.  where do i grab his attention though... the consuming, naturally, and that's when baby sister comes running too.  food?  tell me where to sit! she thinks (i'm sure of it).

undies probably don't follow the health code
(but they sure are cute)

 patiently waiting for 8 minutes...

once fred came home from work, he took bamm bamm out trick-or-treating, while betty and pebbles stayed home, handing out candy.  this is the only time i wish we lived elsewhere.  these cute little costumes just can't be worn outdoors.  (at least, if we don't wanna hear a bunch of whiney-whinersons.)  jb threw on sweatpants, uggs, a sweatshirt and jacket and still was rather resistant to the fun that should have been had.  fred called after 20 minutes and said that bamm bamm didn't quite understand the concept of trick-or-treating.  after people would give him candy, he would reach into his plastic pumpkin to give it back.  whaaaaat?!  this is supposedly MY child, giving candy back?  bamm bamm can't be betty's child!

according to fred, these were bamm bamm's utterance while out:

i go twick-o-tweat at mama's house.

it's too cood out.

i be done now.

we'll try again next year...

he did have fun back at home.  he liked handing out candy to "all the friends" that came to visit.  mama, dere's more friends coming!  and he was really keen on sharing with pebbles.  i think they both ate their weight in starbursts and pez.

cheesin' pebbles

bamm bamm's totally and utterly not in the mood for pictures.

because the above pictures of bamm bamm are the best of the 7 i snapped, i declared it a stash moment, as in the toy stash.  see, i keep a basket high up in my closet of small toys, stickers, ring pops, berenstain bears books, and when he's been great listener (or, like, when he was potty training,) i let him pick out a little something something.

 the rubbles

we ask him if he wants a surprise, and these are the faces we get.  priceless.  it's why we like giving him something - we get joy out of seeing his ridiculous faces, just like he loves getting a new something.  so.  we made him promise to take pictures if he got a surprise.  (ha!)  but, he actually did very well!  looked at the camera AND said cheese!  thank you, bamm bamm!

 the rubbles and the flintstones

hope you had a fun halloween!
