before our temps dipped below zero, we had four days in a row of playing in the fluffy white stuff. when our first snow fell last year, dylan wasn't even crawling yet, so there weren't too many days that i brought her outside with us to play. most of last winter, jb and i would bundle up during dylan's morning nap to romp around in the snow. again, what a difference a year makes. dyl's trudging through it like a trouper.
for four days straight, snow fell at our house. big, ol' fat flakes too; perfect for catching on your tongue. we would no sooner get the sidewalk cleared when a few more hours would pass, and we'd be right back outside, shoveling more snow. the kids dragged out their tonkas to assist with the snow removal. i'ma big helper! yes, he is. sometimes.
before shoveling the walk.
love all that fresh snow!
i can't help but smile when she smiles.
our neighborhood moose sure are out this year. this duo appeared about 3 minutes after we came inside. i likely would have screamed if they rounded the corner of our house as we were lounging in the snow. i love watching their snouts sniff around for branches with any remaining grub.
an evening shovel, playing in the snow at dark
i asked for a big cheese, and this is what i got.
next morning, a solo cow, traipsing through the backyard
3 weeks later, and we haven't played outside since that first week of november. it's just too damn cold. really. the kids can handle 20, maybe even 18-15 degrees, but we've been in the single and negative digits for weeks now. i've even avoided leaving the house because who really wants to be out in this nonsense?! you know it's cold when your youngest child's breath gets taken away just by being exposed to it. c'mon, spring!
