since dylan's birthday fell on a week night, we had just a small gathering of friends over to celebrate. with all our family an hour away, we weren't going to request their presence on, what turned out to be, a rather snowy day. my grandmother used to say that the birthday child gets to invite as many kids over as many years old as they are... i really like this idea! but. it's the first birthday. i think no rules apply in this instance. we did have a small group of friends over to help devour pizza, sing happy birthday and assist dylan in the present opening effort. it was a very happy evening for such a happy little girl.
