so last tuesday, before dylan's party, i was determined to get the bags out of our entryway. i had cleaned out my closet the night before, and ended up dropping off 11 bags of clothing. whew! clothes i no longer wore, never really liked (but were great deals, money mistake!) and faded duds that just needed to go. i even threw in a few belts, ball hats and old jackets. 11 bags. what a weight. literally.
then on thursday, i had come up with more items to drop off because the crawl space finally got some much needed attention. our crawl space had become the catch-all, the i-don't-wanna-see-it-but-don't wanna-throw-it-away space. so on a sleepy wednesday afternoon, while dylan snoozed and jb entertained his brain with pinocchio, i wiggled my way down the wooden ladder, hunched over in the four foot space and severely struggled to throw items up to discard. seriously, a work out! this is what i came up with - and i'm only half-way through the space!
- 1 garbage bag of stuffed animals, don't judge
- 2 more bags of clothes
- old sweaters
- icky tailored khakis
- dress shirts
- 1 large box of text books - good riddance!
- 2 boxes of old frames and framed "art"
- 3 lamps from our first place together
- 1 bookcase-type piece of furniture
- some old cookware
on sunday, with the flanagan's in town, ben and i were able to sneak away for a day date while the kiddos took their afternoon snooze. we've been looking for a new desk, and we finally settled on a beautiful piece of furniture. plenty of space, dual filing drawers, slick finish with the purposeful imperfections. i really, really like it. i managed to get the files put away, but after that, i still have all my desk goodies in another box, waiting to move back into their new home.
still, more to come; the other half of the crawl space remains...
