waterproofing and (more) dirt work

friday night.  bricks complete.  cement poured in the walls.  we're getting there!

last sunday is a complete blur.  as i sat down to edit (and delete) and piece together these collages, it was like i was seeing the progress for the first time - and i obviously took them!  i can tell it's summer.  i'm not sleeping well (that damn sunlight); we're staying up entirely too late (it's the only time for ben and i to be, well, ben and annie); and i'm just mentally exhausted with daydreams of running and completion of the shop.

sunday morning, ben was awake and out of the house before 6 am.  he had slathered on the waterproofing the night before and was eager to get the insulation snuggled up to the brick.  more importantly, we were getting more dirt dumped beginning at 10 am.

jackie joined ben outside at 7 am and stayed with him throughout the entire day.  the kid is tough, man.  he just goes.  and, he's such a different boy when he's outside.  he's always been that way, too.  he gets wound up inside (like another guy i know) but a little fresh air - and voila! - he's a happy kid.

i just have to say:  i'm not sure where his pants went, but i'm sure there's a lot i don't know about when he spends time with dada.  it's probably just better that way.  and, i might add, if anyone is going to be struttin' around our yard in undies, i'm happy that it's jb.

i put in about 30 seconds of work with ben before jb came running over:
no, mama, get ouuuuut!  dat's my spot!
the excavator is no place for a woman, anyway.
(well, at least this woman.)
duey watching the back-fill expertise of her dada.
 waterproofing: the black shtuff
insultation: the white/metallic board thingies
(and yes, those are the technical terms.)
 number 16 of 16 loads
it's starting to look like something!
notice the beginning of the garage stalls?

we're having lumber dropped tomorrow, so let the framing begin!
