- she is a total girl. besides her parts and obvious looks, she couldn't be more different than her big bro. at 15 months, she began to brush the hair away from her face with both hands. mid-play, she would stop to compose herself, part of the reason (which i will get to later) for her haircut - complete with bangs - at month 17.
- dyl copies everything jb does. climbing. the day i found her snuggled on the sofa with babies at her side, i nearly knocked her off with my loud gasp. she jumps. well, not entirely. her legs and her upper body move but her feet stay planted. cute but no cigar. she's perfected the somersault. it's embarrassing the age jb first did one. i think dyl has him beat by 2 years or so. she dances! it's so funny how they all have their own moves. jb is more the shoulders and arms mover, while dyl drops her booty and bends her knees - all to the beat! her favorite songs to date are: billie jean by mj and she got the honey by mat kearney.
loves his duey.
- her vocabulary is expanding. another difference between the two. jb didn't say much before 3 and she's already popped off with button and pretty which sound more like ba-on and peee-dy. she said peek-a-boo in one breath like she had been saying it her whole life. mostly, we hear dada, mama, jack (dack!) and lots of hiyeeee! she makes a muah! sound when she kisses (and sometimes when she hugs too). she likes to wave and blow kisses before going to sleep, sometimes saying nigh-nigh. she squeals for fun, sings quietly when she's playing by herself, and does enough humming to make her great grandma helen proud. i've caught her playing in her kitchen, singing, while making her favorite/famous wooden fish on a wooden plate meal. mmm!
we do too.
- if she spots any of her {three} tutus, she'll put up a fuss until they're under her belly. i think they make her run faster. or tougher. or maybe they keep jack at bay. she likes bracelets, purses and anything that she can slip her arm into. we have some books with cut-out fronts, and i've seen her guide her arm in the hole and carry it around like a handbag - and i know she didn't get this from me! she likes shoes, slippers, my slippers, socks or anything resembling one of the previous. she spotted me holding her slippers and immediately started lifting up her foot. i watched her pull on a pair of jack's socks that he left lying about. (jb still lets me dress him.) whoo-wee, i'm in for it with this one...
- can we talk about her babies, dollies, whatever you wanna call them??? she can't have enough. she's been known to carry her 4 main dollies all at once. (still need to capture that image!) these qualities are not taught! girls love girly stuff, that's all there is to it!
one last thing i'll leave you with. i've been in a habit of embarrassing jack in the past, so i better keep that even, like everything else in their little lives. like i said above, another incentive to trim dylan's hair... during a routine (#2) diaper change, i happened to notice a stark white rectangular piece of something in the middle of the muck. so with the diaper, i managed to move it around, and i quickly discovered the white piece was rigid. i grasped it with the diaper, and ohmygosh, it was a pink hair clip!!! my thoughts immediately went to the what ifs, and right then and there, i threw away all those stupid clips and decided i'd be happier with a messy-hair-dyl than a bowel-obstruction-dyl. no, thank you. so mamas, beware! (and, ewww!)
dylan june, i love you, baby girl. you have brought more happiness, smiles, laughs, love, heart-melting looks and moments than i could have ever imagined. my life is full of joy because of your sweet face. xo
