morning after, wailea, makena - day 7

the morning after, we did something we had wanted to do since our last vacation and since 6 days ago... go out for breakfast - ALONE!  ok, sorry, i hate to even say that, but it was SO nice to eat breakfast in peace.  i didn't have to scold anyone for standing up on their seat.  i didn't have to remind someone to eat.  i didn't get

annoyed/embarrassed/frazzled/apologetic/frustrated/hungry

it was just so nice to eat and gab and stare and be very happy.  it was the perfect morning, following a perfect night.  breakfast on the beach?  there aren't many things better...

since i usually have an armful of child and multiple bags draped over my shoulders - and this morning, i did not - i decided i would take full advantage of the situation and capture a little maui beauty.  the trees are most impressive.  these colors of the big leafy trees below, the plumeria trees, palm trees - they're all so beautiful.

and the grounds around polo beach?  the fairmont kea lani hotel?  it's all a dream.

 red & green lovely leaves

 hibiscus
 pretty pretty palm trees

to rent these villas and homes, you're gonna need $3k a night...

the suites are sa-weet!
and, there are flowers growing on the beach.
i laid down to snooze, and i noticed a rainbow glowing around the sun.
but, you still can't escape the thousands of wild chickens.

back at "home," the kids were eager to go.  jack was ready for the beach but was suddenly distracted by the pool.  we played long enough to get wrinkly and cold, then we changed into dry clothes, just in time to drive down to makena and view the sunset from a different beach.  fun auntie lory came along, too.

with a chuckle:
yook mama, dats kinda like pee pee.
makena
the road's coming to an end,
and there's just miles and miles of lava rock.
isn't she a beauty?
sheep the color of lava rock!
 big beach, makena
molokini crater in the background

 love my little boy.

 mad love.
