min(n)i vaca, day 1

errr, well, actually... day 2.  can we really count arriving at 7:30 in the evening, as day 1?  i mean, baths and jammies hardly account for a day.  so now that you're clear, and i'm clear, day 1.  i mean, 2.

i woke up to jb at the foot of my bed, entirely too wide-eyed for only getting 9 hours of sleep with the 3 hour time change.  so really, he got 12 hours of sleep.  HA.  (maybe the blogging at midnight should not go any further.  if two trains leave station c at x time and one stops for coffee, then a squared plus b squared equals...)

so jack tells me "goo' mornin', mama.  i wake now."  i love morning jack voice.  and puffy-red-cheeked, big-eyed jack face.  he's so snuggly and lovely.  but, it never lasts long; within minutes, he's rarin' to go.  with his sister still snoozing, my plan to exit the house quickly fell into place, and we were on the sidewalk to the nearest playground.

these are some of my favorite times.  not that i don't enjoy when the kid sister's along (hey, i was that kid sister!), but it's that i so enjoy being able to play along side of jack, rather than making sure dylan doesn't commit playground suicide off the slide or ingest (too many) rocks and/or dirt.  i can hold hands and swing right next to him, or give underdogs and catch him at the bottom of the slide.  even his new favorite "come find jack, mama!" also known as "where'd jack go?"  almost 4 years old is a super fun age.  (and he keeps getting cuter, too!)

how to stop a nail biter???
look at those nubs!

ohh, mama.  what's dat fing doing down dere?

shortly after our return from the park, jack and dylan's cousins averee and ellie came over for a visit.  wait, did i mention how hot it was outside and that we only played for about 30 minutes?  and that jack somewhere in his play time informed me that i no like minnesota sunshine?  all true.  this is the kid i normally have to peel off the slide with either physical strength or strength by bribes (see: treats in the truck), but this time, my red-faced child was more than ready to seek shade.  but, what we found instead was that mark had filled the kiddie pool, and jb's swim trunks were awaiting his arrival.  (not that he kept them on, despite his uncle's disapproval...)

jack loves averee, and averee is just as tickled by jack.  i only wish they could have splashed around together.  my little introvert preferred to watch from afar and just barely got his toes wet.  he's not a big fan of rushing things.  he's not really a big fan of the unexpected.  he doesn't eat ice cream or popsicles because they're too cold.  regardless, he had fun once averee took a breather, and the waves had returned to calm.

 cute stuff averee

 ellie with a serious dimple!
 sister fun!
 uncle mathew with his niece

 she's sooo cute!

 jb getting brave...
 but not too brave.
 try again...
oh, he's on his feet before they even touch the water!

with a little help from gramma...
 duey likes it!
