eklutna lake hike

i think i had convinced myself that we'd have snow at this point in the season. coming off a less than pleasant summer, i was half expecting winter to come on fierce. so when we are blessed with days like this, it's a complete gift from God. Eklutna is only a 20 minute drive for us, so it startles me that this is the first time we've done it. and like i said before, we couldn't have picked a better day. the sky was cerulean blue, the sun still had some warmth behind it and the kiddos were in great moods. along with bringing ben's 10 mm (definite bear country), i even brought the bulldog. she would at least provide great distraction if we had to make some moves. bella had so much fun. roberta brought her boxer-mix and the two of them were instant buddies. reminded me of how her and kager used to play. jack distributed an obscene amount of hugs, the kids all threw their fair share of rocks into the water and at the sounds of their giggling, you couldn't help but smile. allow the pictures to tell the rest of the story...
