seattle

we were only in seattle for 24 hours, and what a silly amount of time to even stay.  we missed visiting with friends, but were able to see quite a bit of family in such a short amount of time.  auntie alda and cousin terri hosted dinner the evening we arrived in the emerald city.  they prepared chicken dumplings - which couldn't have been more delicious!  perfect meal after flying, and on a blustery day at that.  hey mom, you got that recipe, right?  cousin linda and her daughter sara came too.  and, sara is a first cousin once removed or was it a second cousin once removed... ah, i can never get that straight.  we're related.  let's leave it at that.

the next morning, terri took us to the woodland park zoo, just a few blocks up from her house.  what a brisk seattle morning!  even us alaskans were chilly.  we didn't make it around the entire zoo, but were able to see the adorably chubby hippos, hear the roars of the lion and an up close view of the giraffes.
